Foundation of "Mineração Jundu" on the southern coast of the State of São Paulo.

The company was founded by Cid Muniz Barreto, and its initial operations involving the extraction and processing of quartz sand were located near the beach area, an environment abundant with a vegetation system typical of dunes and beaches known as "jundu".

Transfer to the interior of São Paulo state, Descalvado-SP.

Jundu's activities were transferred from the southern coast of São Paulo to Descalvado-SP, where its administrative headquarters are located to this day.

Beginning of the Children's Project.

In 1987, aiming to increase the frequency of the already established Jundu ClubeIn a multi-sports area created on the Descalvado unit's premises for the benefit of employees, the "Children's Project" was founded.

The underlying purpose of the Children's Project was to promote educational sports among the children of Jundu employees and the children of Descalvado. This idea received unanimous approval from the executive board and won the enthusiastic support of the Descalvado community. At the inaugural event, approximately 450 children participated in the activities. That year, the number of enrollments grew significantly, reaching 900 children.

Incorporation by Saint-Gobain.

Largely due to its technical excellence, its market relevance, and the innovation it has promoted over the years, it has become attractive from a business perspective. In 1995, it was acquired by the French multinational group Saint-Gobain, one of the largest groups in the civil construction sector.

Saint-Gobain and Sibelco establish a joint venture for Jundu.

Sibelco, a Belgian multinational mining company, has formed a joint venture with Saint Gobain. This union has allowed Jundu to expand its product portfolio, now operating not only in the glass and foundry markets, but also in the chemical, ceramic, and oil markets, among others that are part of our daily operations.

Furthermore, it enabled Jundu to get geographically closer to its customers with new production units across Brazil, in Analândia (SP), Bom Sucesso de Itararé (SP), São João Del Rei (MG), Balneário Barra do Sul (SC), Estância (SE) and Santa Maria Eterna (BA).

Launch of the Jundu SuperQuadra

2019 marked a turning point in Jundu's trajectory with the launch of SuperQuadra Jundu - an emblematic milestone in the company's growth and diversification strategy.

SuperQuadra was created as a complete ecosystem of products and services for beach sports, developed with and for athletes, combining expertise in sand, sports engineering, and the experience of those who live and breathe the sport.

Focused on delivering comfort and performance, SuperQuadra Jundu positions the company as a benchmark in beach sports courts throughout Brazil.

Publication of the First EPDs

In 2024, Jundu took another important step on its sustainability journey, becoming the first company in its segment to publish Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
